Children are divided into year groups. Each year group is based in semi open plan area named after a colour. The standard number for each year group is 90.
In 2019-20, our class sizes will be as follows: NOR – 360
Lower School | 90 | Year 4 in Red Area | 90 | Year 3 in Green Area |
Upper School | 90 | Year 5 in Blue Area | 90 | Year 6 in Yellow Area |
Within each of these areas the children are divided into class groups.
When children arrive from the Infant School into Green Area, they will be divided into class groups. Each class has a Teaching Assistant (TA) who supports the children with learning and pastoral care. They also support the teacher and ensures the class and area run smoothly.
In years 3, 4 and 5 the children are grouped into mixed ability classes for all subjects. In Year 6, children are grouped with children of similar ability for English and Maths. It is essential that each child makes the best possible progress and children’s progress is tracked each term. The organisation of the teaching areas is based around pupils’ needs and progress.
Children are in a variety of groups while they are at school. This means that they get to know all the children and all of the adults in the area very quickly.
