It is important for children to attend school regularly. Every day is precious. Children quickly lose their confidence if they have missed lessons and do not know what to do. Occasionally children have to have days away from school because they are ill or for other reasons. In these circumstances we do everything we can to make sure that they catch up with what they have missed.
If your child is absent from school please let the school know why they are away by telephoning or sending in a note with someone else. If we don’t hear from you on the first day your child is away, we are likely to call you. This is done so we can pick up any problems and get them sorted out quickly. If we haven’t managed to contact you before your child returns please send a note in with them.
Please try to make sure that medical and other appointments are made outside school hours where possible. We also ask that you avoid taking your child out of school during term time for holidays. Although “better late than never” we would also ask that your children come to school on time. For security reasons if your children arrive after 9.00am they will not be able to get into school through the playground. They will have to go through the office.
You will receive feedback on the punctuality and attendance of your child each term.
Geoffrey field is proud of its increasingly high level of school attendance and works closely with parents and the Education Welfare Service to ensure that these standards are maintained.
