At Geoffrey Field Junior School, science is taught in blocks (e.g. during a special science week) or during regular lesson slots. The children are taught the key knowledge and understanding of concepts such as light and shadows, electricity, life processes and materials through a range of engaging activities, including practical investigations which allow the children to develop their scientific enquiry skills. The children learn how to be scientists and investigate the areas of science by asking questions, designing and carrying out their own experiments, and drawing their own conclusions. We have an extensive range of science resources at the school, which are used by the children to enable them to carry out their research effectively. The children enjoy science lessons which build on their curiosity of the world around them and stimulate creative thought. For details of the science curriculum, please follow the link.
