Medication & Inhalers
Medication in School
When completing the 'Information Form' you will have specified which medication (if any) your child needs to have within school. However, should your child be prescribed medication that is required in school during their time with us, please contact the school office to complete all necessary paperwork.
All medication must be handed in to the school office or your child's class teacher. Medication must not be kept with the child. Medication should be sent in with a completed Medication Form (available in the school office or from the school website). We cannot administer medication safely without this information.
Please keep us updated with new or changes to existing medical conditions.
Care Plans
A robust, clear care plan represents a vital partnership between home and school, ensuring that we can provide a secure and supportive environment tailored to your child's specific needs. To help us keep your child safe, please ensure the school office is immediately made aware of any serious medical conditions and that you provide all relevant medical evidence so a formal care plan can be established.
Once received, our team will be in touch with you directly to discuss the details and ensure we are fully aligned. To ensure this vital information remains accurate, the school will also be in touch to review and update your child’s care plan every year, or sooner if their needs change.
Inhalers
Many of our pupils have asthma inhalers in school which are available to them when their symptoms require it.
The school has also purchased a salbutamol inhaler (blue) for use in emergencies, inline with governmental guidance. The emergency salbutamol inhaler will only be used for children who have either been diagnosed with asthma and prescribed an inhaler where parental consent has been given. Should an inhaler run out or expire and not be replaced promptly, the emergency inhalers are potentially life-saving.
