Dear Parents,
I just had to thank you for all your support with The Big Friendly Read over the summer holiday. I received the following email from the librarian (Jackie Perrow) at Whitley Library and was really delighted. It shows your commitment to making sure the children continue with their reading over the holidays. We will be celebrating with those who got involved at our assembly on Friday. Please can you send the children in with their certificates? If they haven’t quite finished, there is still time!!

I would like to thank you for your support in promoting this year’s Summer Reading Challenge. I’m sure you will be pleased to hear that your letter to your parent group about the Big Friendly Read was very successful in bringing children to the library. We had a lot of parents visiting clutching your letter and asking about the scheme! Of all the local schools you had the most enrol (36 children) and the most complete the challenge (16). These figures are correct as at the 1 September and we have probably had some more finish the challenge since then!
